Sailfish
Sailfish are the staple food of deep sea fishing in Costa Rica. Costa Rica may be one of the best places in the world to land large sail the Pacific in large quantities and is known for producing some of the biggest. 
Sailboat on average £ 100 here, it is common to get a lot bigger, and more than 200 pounds and 10 feet long process. The world record is 221 pounds. fish are extremely fast, and there were more than 60 mph.
They are easily recognizable by their long, slender body, long nose and a large dorsal fin that resembles a sail, relatively much greater than that of all species of billfish. Sailfish may appear in different colors from brown to blue to gray, and have the ability to change colors and patterns. Excited as “light” and become shiny iridescent blue and purple with a silver belly. We believe it is possible to change the colors that are used as a form of communication with other boats.
Although sea fishing in Costa Rica, often see the sailboat “snorkel” or “failure” to jump out of the water comes often to eliminate parasites from the skin or gills, or treat. Sometimes I took the boat while fishing for roosterfish along the rocks.
Sailfish are found in these waters all year, but the season starts in December and runs through April / May absolute season is from February to April. It is quite normal to go and get bites from -10 to -30 sailboat on one day during the season. There is plenty of time to get good boats over 50 bites a day and sometimes more than 100.

When hooked, sailing fight vigorously and are very acrobatic; tail walk, jump and come back several times to try to dislodge the hook. They are a spectacular sight and a lot of fun to catch.
